Michele Bachmann and the Iraq Study Group

The Iraq Study Group:

The United States "must not make open-ended commitments to keep large numbers of troops deployed in Iraq."

Michele Bachmann (10/5/06):

In taking editorial board questions, Bachmann explained while the reasoning behind the U.S. invasion of Iraq might be debated, America is there.

"And I do believe we need to stay the course," she said.

Iraq was a terrorist training base, Bachmann opined, and answered the question of whether the Iraqi people are better off today than under Saddam Hussein in the affirmative.

"They most certainly are," she said.

Bachmann offered no time line for withdrawing U.S forces from Iraq.

Indeed, such a question is unreasonable, she argued, because neither she nor anyone else can peer into the future.

"I don't know how long it will take," said Bachmann.

Mistakes have been made, she said.

I'm looking forward to hearing Bachmann's plans to grow the "roses of success" out of the ashes of this disaster.
