Commenters Weigh in On Michele Bachmann's Lack of a Work Ethic

Lots of commenters weigh in:

Bachmann never liked the real legislative work, that's her history. Leopards and spots and all. She's a tireless campaign self promoter. She's lazy at the job. She will advance herself in DC. She won't do jack for the district. Schmoozing with Carlyle and Halliburton doesn't fix Highway 10 in rush hour. She'd make a good PR flak for Zygi Wilf.

I doubt the big dogs in Congress will allow Bachmann to be assigned to two committees that meet at the same time as each other, as she did in the Minnesota Senate. Bachmann had the lightest workload of any Senator when she was here. She was notorious for showing up at committee meetings to sign in, and then leaving. Her legislative aides often covered committee hearings for her. That's the kind of representation we became accustomed to in SD 52, so it will comes as no surprise that Bachmann would be distressed at the schedule of a member of Congress. I guess that's what you get from a representative who answers to voices in her shallow little mind before answering to her constituents.

Anyway about the 5 day work week. Give 'em time clocks so we know where they all are and how long they are truly serving their constituents. I work 5-6 days a week and close to 60 hours a week, they should do the same if needed. 3 days is not enough and is a slap in the face to working Americans. The new Dem controlled Congress will need all the time they can get to fix the problems the Republicans have created especially the Iraq War, warrentless wire tapping on American Citizens that have nothing to do with terrorists, Medicare 'D', energy policy, I could go on and on.

I assume that she will be told by the big dogs in Republican leadership that she will be expected to show up for the big votes. I don't think debating gay marriage on college campuses will make up for the actual work of being a congress member.

Michele Bachmann wasn't a team player in the State Legislature. In fact, that's the reason she was dumped by her caucus from leadership. It's hard to believe that she will start working collaboratively with members of her own party, much less "in a bi-partisan way".

I talked with a RPM state party aide yesterday who said that Bachmann had done a good job "moderating her message." She has always been good at that - and there is a compliant news media who are happy to write stories based on her campaign press releases. The problem is the media aren't doing their job and exposing the reality behind her excellent acting.
