Letters to the Editor in Strib go after Michele Bachmann

Strib here:

Letter of the day: Voters ask: Is Marcus Bachmann running?

Published: October 24, 2006

I see by the Oct. 19 Star Tribune that congressional candidate Michele Bachmann states that "the Lord says: 'Be submissive, wives, you are to be submissive to your husbands.' "

Does this mean that a vote for Bachmann is a vote for her husband? And, if so, what do we know about him? Does he also question evolution? Or global warming? If a vote for Mrs. Bachmann is really a vote for Mr. Bachmann, then the voters deserve to know his stand on the issues.

What a throwback and slap in the face to women struggling for equity. Michele Bachmann stated that her husband told her to get a tax law degree even though she hated tax law. Does Michele have an independent thought in her head? If she's elected, I suppose the submission kick will continue -- to her husband, political party, congressional leaders and president. Sixth District residents deserve a thoughtful, measured and proactive voice in D.C., not a submissive, reactive one.
